The Maryland State Numismatic Association would like to congratulate our Treasurer and editor of The Maryland Numismatist Simcha Kuritzky for being selected as a 2014 winner of the Glenn Smedley Memorial Award.

The award was name in memory of Glenn B. Smedley who was known as a collector’s collector, to recognize individuals who have devoted their efforts to the betterment of the American Numismatic Association. Simcha is not only MSNA’s treasurer but is also the treasurer of the Montgomery County Coin Club and president of the Washington Numismatic Society. Simcha has served as an ANA regional representative and exhibits judge. He is also a prolific exhibitor whom we refer to affectionately as a serial exhibitor.

Simcha’s collecting interest is in felines (cats, lions, tigers, leopards, gryphons) on coins, notaes, medals and the like. He also collects mystic medals, particularly Hebrew amulets and love tokens.

We are all proud of Simcha and look forward to award ceremony at the World’s Fair of Money in August.
